Also, the MAC’s Birdhouse Music Series continues on Friday at 7:30 PM.  This edition features Connla, Winner of the Vocal/Instrumental Album of the Year for 2017 Live Ireland Music Awards.  Check them out here.

The Village Geek FREE Play

KeyForge Free Play tonight at The Village Geek from 6pm to close (event recurs every Wednesday).  So, grab a friend or two and head downtown to The VG tonight!  If KeyForge is not your style, no worries, The Village Geek has you covered with other recurring free play events, like: MTG Modern (Mon.), Dragon Ball (Tues.), X-Wing and MTG Commander (Thur.), MTG Standard (Fri.), and, finally, one Saturday a month they host open board gaming, where you can bring in your own game to play there or choose from their library of cool new games.

As stated on The VG’s “venue” page on MHKtoday: The Village Geek has posted up on the east end of downtown and basically said to Manhattan, “We have a bunch of these cool games we love playing, and we think you would too.  So, let’s all get together and play them.” Not only does The Village Geek have a wide selection of games for purchase, but it has tables for gameplay both small and sprawling, and a coffee bar to fuel those endless passionate debates that allows this little village on 3rd St. to “geek” out!

If you’re not a hard-core board gamer–no worries!  Take it from me (not a hard-core board gamer), the staff is very friendly and are 100% ready to help along a novice, as well as the hard-core “geeks”.  VG hosts gameplay events nearly every night (see calendar), including Open Dungeons & Dragons Campaign every other weekend.  We are very fortunate to have a place like The Village Geek in our community.

Welcome to MHK Today!

[ Special Preview of MHK Today’s Launch ]

Happy 2019, Manhattan!

And …

Welcome to MHK Today!

MHK Today is Manhattan’s new go-to for what’s going on around our happening little city.  The big goal of this site is to enable Manhattanites to become the country’s most engaged citizens.  Packing the MHS gym for basketball, selling out performances at The MAC two weeks before opening night, and all finding smaller communities to geek-out on some passion with new, similarly geeky friends, are all ways we’d like to help MHKers engage to grow a richer community for all to enjoy.

We have BIG plans to meet that BIG goal!  That being said, we are a grassroots operation on a shoestring budget and will build into what we want to be for Manhattan over time.  Starting today–New Year’s Day, 2019–we are going to make our site the best place to find out what’s Manhappening. With daily morning posts for you to plan the rest of your day, and weekly posts for those of you less spontaneous, MHK Today provides a simple format to easily determine what you’d like to do. Finally, a constantly updated calendar consolidates events calendars from around town to allow you to coordinate those big annual events to which you might invite your friends or family from KC or Wichita.  So, again, welcome to MHK Today!  We hope you enjoy the site and it helps you better enjoy our happening little city.
